Eisai and UCL enter new phase of neuroscience partnership
Eisai has commenced the latest phase of its long-running collaboration with University College London (UCL) in the field of neuroscience research.
The partnership, which has been ongoing since 1990, is entering a new stage in which Eisai's neuroscience product creation unit will work with UCL to conduct joint studies into biomarkers for neurodegenerative disease.
These investigations will begin later this year and will focus on the areas of neuroinflammation, neurovascular/mitochondria and proteostasis-related research.
Under the terms of the agreement, Eisai will also be integrating its UCL research functions into the Eisai European Knowledge Centre in Hertfordshire, thus reinforcing the ties between the two organisations.
A company statement said: "Eisai is committed to making further contributions to address unmet medical needs … by maintaining, strengthening and further developing the relationships and confidence built up with UCL thus far."
Last month, Eisai announced a new collaboration with Prism BioLab on the development and commercialisation of a new treatment for solid tumours and leukaemia.
