Eisai supports Thailand flood relief effort

31st October 2011

Eisai has donated $100,000 (62,460 pounds) to support the recovery effort in areas of Thailand devastated by the recent flooding.

The Tokyo-based company said the money will go to the Thai Red Cross Society and expressed its "heartfelt sympathies" to everyone affected by the floods, which have killed nearly 400 people.

In addition, Eisai pledged to provide pharmaceutical products and relief supplies to aid the recovery through its Thai subsidiary.

"Eisai sincerely hopes that its support will help the people affected by this disaster and prays for the speedy recovery of the afflicted region," the company said in a statement.

According to Reuters, the flooding has submerged approximately four million acres in Thailand and disrupted the lives of more than two million people.

In March, Eisai donated 200 million Japanese yen (1.5 million pounds) to the relief effort for the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, which left thousands of people dead and caused a nuclear crisis at the Fukushima plant.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800781089-ADNFCR
