EKF Diagnostics confirms Selah Genomics and DiaSpect Medical takeovers

EKF Diagnostics has announced the acquisitions of fellow life science companies Selah Genomics and DiaSpect Medical.

Selah Genomics is based in the US and supplies molecular diagnostics tests for the development of personalised medicine, while Sweden's DiaSpect is a manufacturer of desktop haemoglobin analysers.

Following these takeovers, the company will be able to expand its molecular diagnostics offering with advanced new molecular and genomic diagnostic services that emphasise speed and ease of use.

It will also be able to offer the DiaSpect Hb-system, which can provide instant results from one drop of whole blood.

Julian Baines, chief executive officer of EKF, said: "These acquisitions provide us with a huge opportunity to establish ourselves as a leading global player in point-of-care haemoglobin testing and to consider our position in molecular diagnostics and personalized medicine."

This comes after the firm also recently agreed a deal to acquire Separation Technology, a Florida-based manufacturer of in vitro diagnostics devices for haematology testing.
