EKF Diagnostics launches biomarker test for early sepsis identification
EKF Diagnostics has announced the launch of its new Stanbio Chemistry Procalcitonin (PCT) LiquiColor Assay, specific biomarker test for early sepsis identification.
This fast, accurate and convenient testing method provides precise results within ten minutes, requiring only 20 microlitres of sample to deliver a verdict. The reagents may be used on almost any liquid-based chemistry analyser with open-channel capability.
It enables the quantitative determination of PCT in serum samples, EDTA or lithium heparin plasma samples by latex-enhanced immunoturbidimetric methodology, making it a valuable tool for viral and bacterial infection differentiation.
Al Blanco, director of the central laboratory business unit at EKF Diagnostics, said: "It will provide optimised lab workflows by eliminating the need to split a sample or have a dedicated offline workstation. These features will provide any lab with a cost-effective solution for PCT testing."
This comes after the firm launched its next-generation Hemo Control point-of-care diagnostics analyser, a simple testing system for haemoglobin and haematocrit levels, last month.
