EKF Diagnostics to showcase products at AACR 2014

1st April 2014

EKF Diagnostics has announced that it will be showcasing its latest ultra-sensitive cancer mutation detection kits at a forthcoming industry event in San Diego.

The company will attend the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) annual meeting from April 5th to 9th 2014 in order to demonstrate the benefits of its PointMan DNA enrichment technology.

An extremely sensitive and selective tool based on real-time polymerase chain reaction principles, PointMan allows users to enrich mutations from limited sample material, which is important given the limited availability of tumour biopsy tissue.

Presently EKF is working with the University of Swansea to investigate the ability of PointMan kits to enrich mutant DNA from a blood-based sample, with initial results with samples archived in the Wales Cancer Bank showing significant promise.

PointMan DNA enrichment kits are available to detect a variety of mutations for cancer biomarkers associated with skin melanoma, colorectal and lung cancers, as well as myeloma.

This comes after the firm showcased PointMan at Tri-Con 2014, an industry conference that took place in San Francisco in February.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801708906-ADNFCR
