Elanco Animal Health Puts Microtracer Technology in Skycis Feed Additive
Elanco Animal Health has revealed a new element of Skycis 100, now having Microtracer technology.
Skysis is unique in the sense that it the only feed additive containing Ionophore compounds that is accessible to pig farmers in the United States. This compound encourages an increase in weight and feed yield when it is used in grower-finisher pig feed over the course of at least a month.
The antibacterial Narasin drug regulates the microorganisms in the digestive tract, resulting in enhanced feed yield, energy supply, and weight increase.
Other similar offerings by Elanco, such Rumensin, which is sold to dairy and cattle farmers, have made use of Microtracer technology.
The new technology uses a rotational detector to differentiate Microtracer particles from the feed and test for evidence of Skycis.
Technical Advisor at Elanco, Roger Arentson, explained that “the Microtracer technology is a significant addition to Skycis,” providing “an additional safety step for producers, feed mills and nutritionists, and a fast, accurate on-site method of confirming the ingredient’s inclusion in their diets.
Technical staff member, Scott Carr, commented that “Skycis has been proven to add efficiency and productivity in swine herds, with this added peace of mind, we can continue to expand the impact of Skycis on producers’ bottom line.”
