Electronic Glove Improves prosthetic hand performance.
US researchers have developed a glove that can improve the performance of prosthetic hands.
The glove uses sensors to measure factors (including pressure, hydration, and temperature) which then sends the data to a wristwatch via electronic chips, allowing real time display and for data processing.
Chi Hwan Lee, an assistant professor in Purdue College of Engineering who has been working on the project said, “We have developed an e-glove that can seamlessly fit on arbitrary hand shapes, and can collect various information such as pressure, temperature and humidity. The glove can provide a realistic human hand like softness.”
The team have claimed that this can be manufactured in high volumes in a cost effective way, giving an alternative that is affordable compared to other prosthetic technologies.
