Elsevier and FEBS launch new life science journal

Elsevier has allied with the Federation of Biochemical Societies (FEBS) to launch a new open-access journal focusing on molecular and cellular life sciences.

The FEBS Open Bio journal is now welcoming submissions of novel findings, with all content to be made available for free via the SciVerse ScienceDirect database.

It is designed to meet the needs of authors with a need for a rapid publishing process and is also open to the transfer of articles submitted to other FEBS publications that have not been accepted for inclusion, but are nevertheless deemed to be sound and useful.

Carl Schwarz, publishing director for Elsevier Life Sciences, said this represents an important milestone in its ongoing collaboration with FEBS.

"We are delighted that we have been able to expand our collaboration with FEBS by launching a new journal that will certainly benefit the scientific community," he said.

Earlier this month, the company introduced a new application for iOS devices called the Procedures Consult App, which provides medical professionals with easy access to important data.
