Elsevier announces second Tetrahedron Symposium for 2012
Elsevier has announced plans to hold its annual Tetrahedron Symposium on bioorganic and organic medicinal chemistry in two locations instead of one in 2012.
The European Tetrahedron Symposium will take place in Amsterdam between June 26th and 29th, followed by an Asian edition of the event in Taipei from November 27th to 30th.
According to Elsevier, the purpose for holding two conferences is to ensure that a wider audience of global researchers are able to benefit from the expertise offered by the Tetrahedron Symposium's world-class speakers.
Guests for this year's symposia include Michael Famulok from Europe, Shigeki Sasaki from Asia and Clifton Barry from the US.
Diddel Francissen, executive publisher of Elsevier's Tetrahedron journals, said: "This symposium duplication is a first for Elsevier and, if successful, can pave the way for future duplications of symposia and conferences."
This week the company also named the recipients of a number of grants to advance the profile of women in scientific roles, as well as the creation of libraries in developing nations.
