Elsevier appoints editor-in-chief of Brain Research journal

10th November 2010

Elsevier has announced that neuroscience expert Dr Irwin Levitan is to become the new editor-in-chief of its medical journal Brain Research.

Dr Levitan, a leading figure in the brain sciences field for around 35 years, takes over from Dr Floyd Bloom, who has been an editor for the journal since its first publication in 1967.

The new editor-in-chief is founding chair of the department of neuroscience at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University and has won numerous awards for his work over the course of his career.

He served as senior editor for neuroscience with the Encyclopaedia of Life Sciences and as a reviewing editor for the Journal of Neuroscience.

Dr Levitan said: "I am excited to assume the role of editor-in-chief and I make a commitment to retain the tradition and unique characteristics of Brain Research to ensure the long-term success of this great journal."

This month also sees Elsevier launch a new neuroscience journal, a quarterly publication called Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800228302-ADNFCR
