Elsevier launches special midwifery journal issue to mark health event
Elsevier has published a special issue of its publication the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health in order to mark World Breastfeeding Week 2010.
The medical information company has launched the issue, entitled Promoting and Supporting Breastfeeding: A Guide for Clinical Practice, in order to highlight the role of midwives in encouraging breastfeeding.
It will also include research on the medical benefits of breastfeeding and some of the medical issues which can interfere with the process.
Elsevier states that this issue is being made available online, as well as articles from the Journal of Pediatric Health Care, in order to demonstrate its support for World Breastfeeding Week, held each year between August 1st and 7th.
It added that it wishes to highlight the “central role” played by midwives in supporting and advocating for the practice.
Last month, Elsevier introduced a new multidisciplinary publication entitled the Journal of Geriatric Oncology, developed in association with the International Society of Geriatric Oncology.
