Elsevier online courses recognised at FREDDIE Awards

Elsevier has revealed that two of its online courses, developed within its MC Strategies division, have been recognised at the 2009 FREDDIE Awards.

The lesson entitled Severe sepsis and septic shock, from the clinical learning course Mosby’s Essential Nursing CE, was named winner in the Infectious Diseases category of the awards.

Furthermore, the Gowning and gloving lesson from Mosby’s Perioperative Nursing was a finalist in the prevention category.

Barbara Nelson Cullen, vice-president of healthcare e-Learning for Elsevier/MC Strategies, stated: "Content from MC Strategies continues to meet the needs of the practicing nurse because it is created by experts in the field, undergoes rigorous peer-review, and includes the latest evidence-based practices."

This news comes after ten of Elsevier’s scholarly and professional publications were honoured by the British Medical Association (BMA) in its Medical Book Competition last week.

Among these was Gray’s anatomy for students by Richard Drake, Adam Mitchell and Wayne Vogl, which claimed the first prize in the BMA basic and clinical science category.
