Elsevier publication honours 4 “outstanding” authors

Elsevier has recognised and rewarded the achievements of four contributors to its publication the Journal of Midwifery and Womens’ Health for their "outstanding" pieces during 2008.

The firm’s annual awards will see Patricia Aikins Murphy, Eleanor Bimla Schwarz and Jane Dyer receive the HealthBest Article Award for a piece on cervical cancer screening practices of certified nurse-midwives.

Published in the January/February installment, the article examines how closely screening guidelines are adhered to and concluded that unnecessary testing training is called for in the field.

Meanwhile, the Mary Ann Shah Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health New Author Award will go to Peggy Rosati Allen, whose article entitled ‘Chronic fatigue syndrome: Implications for women and their healthcare providers during the childbearing years’ offers an insight into the cases of women struggling with the condition.
