Elsevier’s Biomaterials journal to introduce new sections

27th April 2011

Elsevier has announced plans to expand the scope of its medical journal Biomaterials via the introduction of new sections and features.

The first of these changes will see a dedicated section covering the role played by biomaterials in cancer treatments, with papers on subjects such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, imaging, theranostics and carcinogenicity set to be accepted.

It stated that this new focus reflects the increasingly major role played by biomaterials in cancer research.

Meanwhile, the publisher is also seeking to introduce a debate-focused format to certain sections of the journal, which would provide a forum for speculative opinion-led papers and discussions.

Allyn Molina, Elsevier publisher, said: "Elsevier expects the journal to become a premiere publication for papers dealing with materials-based cancer technologies, as well as providing a unique outlet for the exploration of new ideas and technologies."

Earlier this month, the company announced the launch of a competition encouraging the development of customised applications for its SciVerse research information platform, which runs until the end of July 2011.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800513113-ADNFCR
