EMA gives positives opinion on Pfizer drug Vizimpro
Vizimpro has been given a positive opinion as a single agent therapy for advanced or metastatic EGFR positive non-small cell lung cancer.
The drug will be competing directly with Roches first generation EGFR Tarceva, Boehringer Ingelheim’s Giotrird and Astra Zenecas’ Tagrisso.
The US FDA gave the green light for Vizimpro last September 2018 after delay to the programme was caused by two phase three trials. After a lot of persistence for a third study, Pfizer were able to show that the drug was able to extend progression free survival compared to Astra Zeneca’s first generation EGFR inhibitor Gefitinib.
