Enrolment procedures for Imbokodo trial complete

Johnson & Johnson has completed enrolment procedures for the phase IIb trial of Imbokodo (HVTN 705/HPX2008), Janssen’s investigational HIV-1 preventive vaccine regimen that contains mosaic immunogens created using genes from a broad selection of viral subtypes responsible for the HIV pandemic. 2,600 women aged 18 to 35 years, living in five African countries with high rates of HIV, have been recruited for the trial, the first efficacy study of Imbokodo. It is assessing whether it can safely and effectively reduce the rate of new HIV infections, and preliminary results are expected in 2021.
