24th August 2023

The Royal Society of Chemistry’s 2023 Emerging Technologies Competition has selected four entrants as the winners. These discoveries have been praised for their ability to alter numerous industries and tackle urgent global concerns.

The winners will split £100,000 to hasten the expansion and development of their enterprises. The CEO of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Professor. Helen Pain stressed the need to acknowledge and back innovations in technology that support economic expansion and are essential for an environmentally friendly future.

The University of Nottingham was amid the winners, taking first place in the Enabling Technologies field for its expandable system for optimized manufacturing procedures. The constant-flow Vortex Reactor system accelerates the production of complex compounds while using the least amount of chemicals, substances, and processing methods feasible.

The approach developed by Lambda Energy to lessen farming’s environmental impact and improve food security won the energy category. Its easily adaptable substance technology is said to have the capacity to raise agricultural output by approximately 20%, enhancing the quantity of red light accessible to plants and promoting crop harvest.
