Eppendorf launches new tubes and plates for sample storage

Eppendorf has released a new range of LoBind tubes and plates, which allow life science researchers to store biological samples more safely and efficiently.

The science company’s new storage devices are designed for DNA or RNA applications in fields such as forensic analysis, sequencing and molecular biology.

They are constructed using selected ultrapure polypropylene and special production techniques which ensure that samples do not react or bind with the surface of the tube or plate.

According to Eppendorf, this risk is common when storing or incubating biological samples for 24 hours in standard containers, resulting in the loss of more than 90 per cent of the sample.

Other beneficial attributes of the LoBind products include their short centrifugation times and high chemical and thermal resistance.

Daniel Wehrhahn, product manager for consumables at Eppendorf, said: “With increased sample recovery rates of up to 99 per cent after 24-hour incubation, subsequent assay results are more accurate and consistent.”

Last month, the science firm launched its new Eppendorf UVette, a UV-transparent disposable cuvette for use in spectrophotometric analysis.
