Ethicon Endo-Surgery launches Harmonic Focus
Ethicon Endo-Surgery (EES), a Johnson & Johnson company, has announced the launch of Harmonic Focus curved shears, an energy device designed for delicate dissections in open surgeries.
Announced at the American College of Surgeons 93rd Annual Clinical Conference, Ethicon Endo-Surgery confirmed that the new nine centimetre device was designed to help improve patient outcomes.
Previously released data shows that use of Harmonic devices is associated with reduced intraoperative blood loss and less analgesic consumption in thyroidectomy.
The curved shears are intended to enhance surgical efficiency by allowing surgeons to finely dissect, grasp, coagulate and cut without changing instruments.
Kevin Lobo, president of EES, confirmed the company’s commitment to surgical technology with the release.
“The introduction of the Harmonic Focus curved shears represents our dedication to working with the surgical community to transform patient care through innovation.”
Harmonic technology has been used in more than 6.5 million procedures worldwide, including a variety of open and laparoscopic procedures in many areas of surgery.
EES develops and markets advanced medical devices for minimally invasive and open surgical procedures.
