European Oral Health Report Card unveiled
Dental professionals, public healthcare stakeholders and key policymakers have attended the European Parliament today (March 18th) for the launch of the European Oral Health Report Card.
Produced by the Platform for Better Oral Health in Europe, the study reveals the effectiveness of diseases prevention in member states across the EU.
It also features a number of indicators designed to measure the future progress achieved in the 28 nations.
GlaxoSmithKline and the Association for Dental Education in Europe are among those who have contributed to the report card.
Kenneth Eaton, chair of the Platform, said: "Given the great variety in quality of governance of preventive practices or oral disease, the role of oral health professionals and education and awareness, the effectiveness of the current oral healthcare systems in many EU member states for oral health promotion is questionable."
The document follows the State of Oral Health Report in September 2012, which revealed more work needs to be done across Europe to improve oral health awareness, tackle inequalities and deal with common dental risk factors.
