Exceptional Circumstances Announced for Covid 19 Related Absenteeism
In view of the ongoing impact of Covid-19 and staff absenteeism, NHS England has declared exceptional circumstances. Dental clinics may file a report for missed appointments or treatments that were due to Covid 19 related staff absence.
There is ongoing awareness that the Omicron variant elongates the causes and effects of staff absenteeism in industries like healthcare and hospitality. NHS expectations have been increased to 85%, with implementation beginning in January.
From December of last year to the end of March, the extra exceptional circumstances will extend to employee absences caused by Covid-19 or self-isolation.
Evidence of workers who self-isolated and confirmation of its necessity must be submitted as part of the claim. Evidence may be taken from the track and trace app or a positive test result. Appointment books must also be provided to validate whether the patient’s care was affected by the absence.
