Fisher and Paykel appoints non-executive director

Fisher and Paykel has announced the appointment of Donal O'Dwyer as a non-executive director, effective from December 1st 2012.

Mr O' Dwyer is the current chairman of Atcor Medical and occupies independent directorial roles at Cochlear, Sunshine Heart and Mesoblast, while he also spent several years with Cordis Cardiology and Baxter Healthcare.

He will bring more than 20 years of experience as a senior business leader in the cardiovascular and medical device industries to Fisher and Paykel's board.

This is the first of two planned directorial appointments being made by the company following the news that Gary Paykel and Nigel Evans will be retiring next year.

Fisher and Paykel chairman Tony Carter said: "Donal is extremely well qualified to contribute to Fisher and Paykel Healthcare's board at a time when we are continuing to expand our international presence."

Earlier this year, the company expanded its product range with the launch of the Eson nasal mask, for use in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea.
