Fisher and Paykel launches Eson nasal mask

Fisher and Paykel has announced the launch of Eson, a new nasal mask that aims to offer a more comfortable treatment alternative for obstructive sleep apnoea patients.

The new device is made up of three simple components, with the ErgoFit Headgear and Easy Frame working in tandem with the patented RollFit Seal, which rolls back and forth on the bridge of the nose to minimise pressure on the nasal bridge.

It complements the company's existing Fisher and Paykel Pilairo nasal pillows mask – which has been positively received since its recent launch – and has already been launched in New Zealand, Australia and Canada, with a European debut soon to follow.

According to Michael Daniell, Fisher and Paykel Healthcare's chief executive officer, the mask addresses all of the complexities homecare providers and patients commonly face when fitting, wearing and maintaining masks.

He added: "Our design team's focus has been on simplicity and performance – the things that matter most to those that use the mask."

The manufacturer is looking to maintain its strong recent momentum after experiencing a record revenue performance during the fiscal year ending on March 31st 2012, thanks to new product launches and expanded clinical applications for its medical devices.
