Five starving kittens were rescued by the Stray Cat Rescue Team

Five starving kittens were found at a garden in Birmingham, where they were discovered by the Stray Cat Rescue Team, who took them to White Cross Vets in Wolverhampton, to be looked after by expert Veterinary Nurses.

The Stray Cat Rescue Team found an additional two kittens; however, they had sadly died. The team immediately took the kittens to the vets, where it was discovered that they had severe cat flu, were fighting for breath and had suffering ulcerated eyes.

Clinic Director, White Cross Vets, Wolverhampton, Rosie Levene-Barry, stated: “These poor kittens were in a terrible state when they arrived with us. Our nurses immediately set about administering medication to treat the symptoms of their cat flu, but it quickly became apparent that because they were so critically ill, they would need round the clock care. Stray Cat Rescue Team couldn’t find any available foster homes and it would be very difficult for one person to look after all 5, so 3 of our RVNs, Jo, Danni and Sioned, volunteered to split the group and take them home. This meant they benefited from twenty-four-hour critical care, which included nebulising regularly to support breathing, administering medication and bottle feeding, as they weren’t eating by themselves.”
