Future Science Group publishes special issue of Personalised Medicine

Future Science Group has announced the publication of a special issue of its journal Personalised Medicine, focusing on the European Science Foundation's (ESF's) new Forward Look initiative.

Guest edited by Dr Stephen Holgate of the University of Southampton and Dr Aarno Palotie of the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, it covers topics presented at the September 2011 ESF meeting where the new foresight process was initiated.

Among the issues discussed are the education, computational and statistical challenges involved in implementing personalised medicine programmes, as well as public health perspectives and the role of information and communication technology.

Dr Holgate and Dr Palotie said: "The need to plan for this new way of practicing medicine is essential … We hope that these commentaries add further light on this rapidly emerging field."

Earlier this month, the company announced the launch of Pharmaceutical Patent Analyst, a new medical publication that will discuss intellectual property issues relevant to the industry.
