GDC calls for views on Scope of Practice review

21st April 2011

The General Dental Council (GDC) is calling for dental professionals to submit their views ahead of the planned review of its Scope of Practice guidance.

An online feedback collection exercise is being conducted by the industry body in order to gather opinions on whether the key document has achieved its aims since its introduction.

Launched in January 2009, the Scope of Practice sets out the abilities dental professionals should possess when registering with the GDC, as well as what further capabilities they may gain after becoming members.

In particular, the GDC is seeking to learn whether the lists are still accurate and which skills might be removed from the document, as well as gaining insight into what barriers dentists face in conforming to the Scope of Practice.

"Any feedback we receive will feed into the development of the formal consultation that will run later this year," said the organisation.

The GDC will be giving more information on its ongoing standards review at the British Dental Conference and Exhibition in Manchester next month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800509566-ADNFCR
