GDC hails recent progress in 2015 annual report

19th July 2016

The General Dental Council (GDC) has published its annual report and accounts for 2015?, highlighting the progress it has made over the last year.

Over the course of the 12 months, the regulator – which has been the subject of industry and government criticism – has undertaken a fundamental review of how it is run, making significant changes to its structure and processes

Key highlights include improvements to its fitness to practise process, the introduction of a helpline to make it easier to raise concerns and the quality assurances checks it has implemented for providers of dental education.

The organisation also jointly established the Regulation of Dental Service Programme Board, working with organisations to improve regulation and to avoid duplication, while publishing the salaries of its executive team for the first time, in line with other regulators and arm's-length bodies.

William Moyes, chair of the GDC, said: "This annual report is a reflection of the continued commitment and effort of our staff, all the while putting the thoughts and building blocks in place for the changes that must come."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801822046-ADNFCR
