GE Healthcare acquires ventilator provider
GE Healthcare has completed its acquisition of a company that specialises in ventilators for respiratory care, it was announced today.
Dot Med reports that VersaMed has been bought by GE and is aimed to expand and develop the group’s product range in the area of respiratory care management.
No financial details of the arrangement were revealed, but the news provider said GE hopes to be able to use VersaMed’s expertise in offering the healthcare industry a wider choice of advanced life support ventilators.
GE president and chief executive officer of the clinical systems business unit, Omar Ishrak, said the potential for new technologies and increased customer satisfaction are two of the benefits resulting from the acquisition.
“Respiratory care is a key area of growth for GE Healthcare,” he explained. “VersaMed has a strong track record of customer-focused innovation.”
