GE Healthcare and Sealed Air announce new strategic collaboration

GE Healthcare has announced a new partnership between its life sciences business and Sealed Air Corporation, a global manufacturer of primary films for pharmaceutical solutions.

The companies will be expanding their strategic alliance to further development and innovation in the biopharmaceuticals industry with a new deal to deliver film for single-use bioprocess systems.

Previous research and development work between the two businesses has led to the creation of a new film for use across GE's full single-use portfolio, supporting exceptional cell growth, application robustness and enhanced supply security.

These films will aid the efficient manufacturing of important medicines such as monoclonal antibodies, vaccines and next-generation biotherapeutics.

Morgan Norris, general manager for upstream products at GE Healthcare's life sciences business, said: "We are confident that we will deliver the next level of purposefully constructed and manufactured films for bioprocessing applications, enabling improved performance, supply chain control, and material/supplier transparency that the market demands of single-use suppliers."

This comes after the firm expanded its offerings for the cell therapy industry last month by agreeing a deal to purchase Biosafe Group.
