GE Healthcare announces partnership with International Aid

GE Healthcare has announced that it has formed a partnership with global humanitarian healthcare organisation International Aid.

Under the terms of this collaboration, GE Healthcare will donate used anaesthesia machines and ventilators to the agency in order to widen access to key lifesaving equipment in developing nations.

As this partnership develops, GE Healthcare will also provide other medical equipment under this agreement, including ultrasound systems, patient monitors and maternal and infant care equipment.

Following the supply of this equipment to International Aid’s headquarters in Michigan, medical devices will be refurbished by the agency before distribution overseas.

The medical technology firm reports that it will deliver approximately 200 devices worldwide under the stipulations of this collaboration agreement.

Omar Ishrak, president and chief executive officer of clinical systems at GE Healthcare, said: “GE Healthcare is continually searching for new ways to extend the reach of our technologies and services.

“This innovative partnership gives us the opportunity to bring our global medical technologies to International Aid’s global relief solutions.”

He added that this partnership will improve access to healthcare technology for patients across the globe.

In January 2007, GE Healthcare announced the launch of its Centricity business certified partner programme offering participating firms access to its revenue-cycle technology.
