12th May 2011

GE Healthcare has appointed Thomas Gentile and Mike Swinford to new roles on its executive leadership team.

Mr Gentile, current vice-president of services at GE Aviation, has become president and chief executive officer (CEO) of healthcare systems at GE Healthcare, succeeding the outgoing Omar Ishrak.

The experienced business leader will take charge of a $12 billion (7.37 billion pounds) division responsible for offerings in fields such as computed tomography, magnetic resonance, ultrasound and molecular imaging.

Meanwhile, Mr Swinford becomes president and CEO for global services at the company, a newly-formed unit that will shape GE Healthcare's service strategy worldwide.

John Dineen, president and CEO of GE Healthcare, said Mr Swinford "has the credentials and business acumen to lead this valuable business and to develop the strategy and infrastructure that will help us partner more closely with our customers".

Last week, the company announced the acquisition of Applied Precision, a cellular imaging firm responsible for various innovations in microscopy instruments.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800530381-ADNFCR
