GE Healthcare forms new neurodegenerative diseases coalition
GE Healthcare is allying with a number of other organisations to create a new coalition dedicated to improving the detection, diagnosis and management of neurodegenerative disease globally.
The Mind (Making an Impact on Neurodegenerative Diseases) group will be a multidisciplinary, multi-stakeholder body that aims to identify gaps in current service provision in nations including the UK, US, France, Japan and South Korea.
It will be compiling a report that will seek to encourage the development of solutions to these problems, with a focus on how conditions can be improved for patients and caregivers and how treatment can be made more cost-effective.
This initiative is being set up in response to the growing impact of these diseases on healthcare and the economy, an issue that is set to grow more prevalent due to the ageing populations of many nations.
Pascale Witz, president and chief executive officer for medical diagnostics at GE Healthcare, said: "We are committing to making a difference by advancing clinical knowledge, driving new medical innovations and developing solutions for age-related neurodegenerative diseases."
Last week, the firm published a new white paper aimed at highlighting the risk posed by healthcare-associated infections in hospitals in the US.
