GE Healthcare to acquire PAA Laboratories

18th August 2011

GE Healthcare has announced the acquisition of PAA Laboratories, a supplier of cell culture media for biomedical research.

The newly purchased company is a creator of innovative cell culture products such as media, sera, growth supplements and reagents, which are used in the creation of protein-based pharmaceuticals and vaccines, in addition to clinical research.

Its high-end manufacturing facilities are registered with the US Food and Drug Administration, with the company recently expanding its powdered cell culture media development capabilities to meet growing global demand.

GE Healthcare states that PAA Laboratories' business is complementary to its operations and will allow it to offer a wider array of products and services.

Kieran Murphy, president and chief executive officer of GE Healthcare Life Sciences, said: "The acquisition of PAA Laboratories is a significant step forward for our life sciences business and for biopharmaceutical manufacturing globally."

Last week, the company launched a new version of the Centricity Advance practice management system, which is optimised for use on the iPad.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800704085-ADNFCR
