GE Healthcare unveils new nuclear cardiology camera

GE Healthcare has installed its new Discovery NM/CT 570c nuclear cardiology camera in two medical centres, it has revealed.

The new cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) based SPECT/CT nuclear cardiology camera, which features Alcyone Technology, has been installed in both the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, Israel and at the University Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland.

Designed to improve cardiology departments’ systems and workflow, the Discovery NM/CT 570c boasts high-resolution and high-speed capabilities, provided by GE Healthcare’s LightSpeed VCT and the Alcyone technology.

It could pave the way for new possibilities in non-invasive cardiac imaging, the company claims.

"For hybrid exams, positioning the patient only once into the scanner is a great benefit and can minimise patient time in the department," explained director of nuclear cardiology at Zurich University Hospital Professor Philipp Kaufmann.

In June, GE Healthcare’s RSNA 2008 microsite received various accolades for factors including its useability, according to interactive marketing agency Fullhouse.
