GE Healthcare’s Cardiff base welcomes MEP for visit

30th September 2011

GE Healthcare has welcomed MEP Kay Swinburne for a visit to its Maynard Centre site in Cardiff, Wales.

During her trip to the facility, which has been in operation since 1980, the European parliament member met with some of the 450 members of staff at the site, including scientists involved in cutting-edge biomedical research.

She also toured the manufacturing facility for GE Healthcare's Whatman range of paper-based filter products used in many healthcare diagnostic applications.

Ms Swinburne's trip to the Maynard Centre was designed to allow her to visit a Wales-based operation responsible for the production of vital technologies for use in the global fight against disease.

The MEP said: "I was encouraged to see that the company has established such a world-class research group here in Cardiff, attracting highly skilled staff."

This comes after the company hosted a visit from health minister Earl Howe at its site in Amersham earlier this year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800745249-ADNFCR
