Geistlich Pharma wins innovation prize for Mucograft products
Geistlich Pharma has been presented with the 2014 prize for innovation from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Central Switzerland for two of its newest products.
The company's Geistlich Mucograft and Geistlich Mucograft Seal collagen matrices were deemed to be outstanding achievements in product design, based on the advantages they can offer over conventional options.
Developed for the regeneration of gingiva, the offerings provide an alternative to conventional transplants from the patient's palate. They are used primarily to cover exposed root surfaces and to cavities after tooth removal.
For the patient, they offer a number of key benefits, including a shorter duration of operation, reduced risk of complications and less discomfort after the procedure has been completed.
Paul Note, chief executive officer of Geistlich Pharma, said: "Geistlich Mucograft and Geistlich Mucograft Seal save the patient considerable pain."
The products were key drivers of growth for the company in 2013, as well as other recently-launched offerings such as Geistlich Bio-Gide, AMIC Hip and Chondro-Gide.
