Genitrix brings autologous treatment to UK
Genintrix has announced the availability of a new autologous treatment treatment to speed up healing in horses in the UK.
The company has launched the new Osteokine system developed by German firm Orthogen to produce platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) to accelerate healing.
It involves taking citrated whole blood from a horse and placing it into an Osteokine bag for processing and a centrifuge, with plasma and platelets transferred to a second bag before a pellet of PRP is generated.
Rob Watkins, marketing director of Genitrix, said: “The benefits of PRP in terms of accelerating wound healing and vascularisation are already widely accepted as are the advantages of an autologous approach in terms of eliminating the risk of disease transmission.”
He added that Osteokine offers a cost-effective approach to the extraction of PRP and takes as little as 20 minutes.
Earlier this month, Genitrix introduced dispensing envelops for its Xeno 450 and Xeno 50-Mini spot on parasite control ranges.
