Genmab and Roche report positive Phase I results for R1507

A collaboration between Genmab and Roche Pharmaceuticals, investigating R1057 in patients with solid tumours, has seen its first Phase I results released.

R1507, a human monoclonal antibody targeting the insulin-like growth receptor (IGF-1R) was developed by Roche in partnership with Genmab.

The study showed that nine of the 34 patients with solid tumours experienced disease stabilisation when treated with R1507 while four of the seven heavily pre-treated patients with Ewing’s sarcoma demonstrated clinical benefits.

The results, reported at the International Conference on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics in San Francisco, also demonstrated that once-a-week administration of R1507 was tolerated well by patients with few side effects.

“These are the first clinical results to be presented from an antibody developed by Genmab under our collaboration with Roche,” Lisa N Drakeman, chief executive officer of Genmab, outlined.

She continued by expressing her pleasure with the positive results and stated her hope that it may offer a potential treatment in the future.

Following the release of the results, Roche has confirmed plans to conduct additional trials and work with a global consortium of sarcoma experts.
Earlier this week, Roche presented new data from a key study of Mircera showing the conversion of patients from frequent treatment dosing to treatment once every four weeks.
