Gilead Sciences EVP presented with CBE
Gilead Sciences has congratulated its executive Kevin Young after he was appointed a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.
The company's executive vice-president (EVP) of commercial operations has been presented with the prestigious honour in recognition of his contributions to the field of pharmaceuticals and innovative drug development.
Mr Young has been with Gilead since 2004 and has enjoyed a 28-year career in the healthcare sector, having also previously been employed by Amgen and AstraZeneca.
He described the appointment as a "wonderful and surprising honour", while thanking his colleagues at Gilead for their support and strong work in furthering the development of HIV treatments.
Dr John Martin, chairman and chief executive officer of the firm, added: "We are pleased to congratulate Kevin on this prestigious accomplishment, which is an acknowledgment of his numerous contributions to the field of medicine."
Last month, the company expanded its pool of executive talent via the appointment of Dr Muzammil Mansuri as its new senior vice-president for research and development strategy and corporate development.
