GlaxoSmithKline appoints new non-executive director

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has announced that Urs Rohner is to join its board as a non-executive director from January 1st 2015.

Currently the chairman of leading financial services company Credit Suisse Group, Mr Rohner will also become a member of the pharmaceutical giant's Remuneration Committee.

Regarding the appointment, GSK chairman Sir Christopher Gent said: "I am delighted to welcome Urs to the board. His broad business background and extensive senior-level experience at multinational companies makes him a great addition to GSK."

Mr Rohner was appointed chairman of Credit Suisse in 2011, having previously held a number of senior positions at the company, including general counsel and chief operating officer. 

Prior to this, he spent four years as chief executive officer and chairman at ProSiebenSat.1 Group, which is one of the largest independent media organisations in Europe.
