GlaxoSmithKline launches Corsodyl-branded periodontal examinations guides

1st July 2014

GlaxoSmithKline has made two new guides to periodontal examinations available to dental professionals free of charge.

Featuring Corsodyl branding, the materials will assist in the identification and prevention of gum disease using the basic periodontal examination (BPE) technique, as outlined and recommended by the Dental Defence Union.

The first, entitled Gum Health: A Practitioner's Guide, is a physical booklet designed to refresh dental professionals' knowledge of the BPE, as well as the signs, symptoms and risk factors associated with gum disease.

Meanwhile, the Corsodyl Guide to BPE and Gum Health is a mobile app for iOS devices that will act as a quick reference tool. It features a description and clinical image of each BPE code, as well as a summary of recommended treatment steps.

The company said: "As undiagnosed and untreated periodontal disease is one of the fastest-growing areas of litigation and complaints in dentistry, acting early against gum disease has never been so important."

Corsodyl is one of GlaxoSmithKline's core dental brands, encompassing mouthwash, spray and dental gel products used in the prevention of gum disease.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801732525-ADNFCR
