GlaxoSmithKline reports encouraging growth in 2015
GlaxoSmithKline has announced its financial results for 2015, during which it delivered a group sales total of 24 billion pounds.
This represented a six percent year-on-year increase on a constant exchange rate basis, or one percent as reported. Two billion pounds' worth of new product sales were attributed to HIV drugs such as Tivicay and Triumeq, respiratory therapies like Relvar/Breo, Anoro and Incruse, and the meningitis vaccines Menveo and Bexsero.
During the year, the company was able to bring its integration and restructuring programme back on schedule, while its research and development portfolio has been bolstered and now includes around 40 assets, thus supporting long-term performance.
Over the five-year period from 2016 to 2020, the company expects its group core earnings per share to grow at a mid-to-high single-digit compound annual growth rate on a constant exchange rate basis.
Sir Andrew Witty, chief executive officer at GlaxoSmithKline, said: "In 2015, we made substantial progress to accelerate new product sales growth, integrate new businesses in vaccines and consumer healthcare and restructure our global pharmaceuticals business."
