GlaxoSmithKline to launch consumer healthcare PR review
GlaxoSmithKline is set to review UK PR duties for its consumer healthcare portfolio, with its existing roster agencies to be involved in the process.
Pitching will take place at the end of the month, according to the Holmes Report, which suggests the company is seeking to reduce the number of firms it works with across its consumer products. Together, they account for a six-figure PR spend.
Its consumer division encompasses brands such as Panadol, Aquafresh, Beechams and Horlicks. The unit has undergone major changes in recent months with the sale of the Ribena and Lucozade brands and the recent formation of a joint consumer healthcare business with Novartis, in which GlaxoSmithKline will take a majority stake.
The business currently works with a number of UK PR firms, including Unity, Red Consultancy, Blue Rubicon and Edelman.
GlaxoSmithKline communications director Iona Maclean said: "We are always reviewing the agencies we work with, but we have no plans to consolidate to one agency."
