GRI launches new multimode reader

GRI has launched a new multimode reader for fluorescence, luminescence and absorbance applications in the UK biotechnology marketplace.

The instrument comes with an on-board PC, touch screen navigation dynamic protocol wizards and boasts "unsurpassed performance", according to Laboratory Talk.

Application modules can be bought separately or in combination in order to create a "high-performance" multimode detection system.

Mike Mokelke, president of Turner Biosystems, said that the instrument has been developed with the requirements of life sciences laboratories in mind.

He added: "The modular design, outstanding performance and ease-of-use of this instrument make it a true winner in a sea of options."

The news follows reports that GRI has launched a new Picodrop microlitre spectrophotometer system.

Aimed to enhance microlitre detection and quantitation of nucleic acids, the device was developed in the UK and simplifies measurement protocol "through unique use of the pipette tip".

This means that it eliminates cross contamination as well as the need for a cuvette or capillary.
