GSK changes distribution model

GSK UK Pharmaceuticals has switched its direct-to-pharmacy distribution model to a reduced wholesale distribution. This effectively means that pharmacy wholesalers Phoenix, AAH and Alliance Healthcare are now able to distribute GSK prescription medicines for the first time.
Jeremy Meader, managing Director at Numark, said: “This is an historic move by GSK that will ultimately be incredibly positive for community pharmacy. Times are tough and recognition of the challenges faced by pharmacy by increasing access to a wider range of prescription medicines through PHOENIX will help deliver consistency in service and increase patient loyalty whilst helping them to more effectively and efficiently fulfil their role on the front line of healthcare.”
