GSK named among top employers in Canada

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has announced that it has been recognised as one of the top ten employers in Canada after being named on the 50 Best Employers in Canada list in the annual rankings from the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business.

The firm was also named as the top pharmaceutical employer nationwide for the second year running.

Employees praised GSK for its physical work environment and their colleagues, while the people practices at the firm were cited as a major driver for employee engagement.

The company said it is dedicated to properly recognising, rewarding, developing and challenging its employees and offers flexible work hours, compassionate leave, competitive parental leave and a rang of on-site services for its staff.

Paul Lucas, president and chief executive officer of GSK Inc, said: “As the country’s largest bio-pharmaceutical employer, we are very proud that our employees have once again recognised us as a top ten employer and as the top pharmaceutical employer in Canada.”

He added that the employees at the firm are its greatest asset and are what enable the firm to offer its products to patients in Canada and worldwide.

Last month, GSK announced that it had completed the acquisition of Reliant Pharmaceuticals for $1.65 billion (800 million pounds) in cash.
