GSK to make one billion doses of vaccine booster for COVID-19 partners

During the last flu pandemic, GSK’s pandemic adjuvant could reduce the amount of vaccine protein required per dose, allowing for more vaccine doses to be manufactured. Furthermore, an adjuvant can create more robust protection against infections and can improve the immune response.

GSK has made its adjuvant technology available to partners developing COVID-19 vaccine candidates that are suitable for use with the adjuvant. GSK is currently in discussions with governments about funding for the development and production of the adjuvant and has formed many collaborations with scientific partners in Europe, China and North America.

GSK will make its adjuvant available across the world, especially in developing countries, by working with global institutions and governments that prioritise access. The company will manufacture the adjuvant for use in COVID-19 sites in US, Canada, Europe and the UK.
