Health and pharma link to tackle dementia in Greater Manchester

Health Innovation Manchester will join forces with Dementia Industry group to focus on the treatment options for people with dementia as well as identifying those that are at risk of developing the disease.
Professor Ben Bridgewater, Chief Executive of Health Innovation Manchester comments,
“Dementia is one of the greatest health challenges facing the country and Greater Manchester. By combining our health and care resources with the pharma industry, we will have the best chance of tackling the disease and prevent more people from developing it in the future.”
Greater Manchester spends £70 million a year treating and caring for an estimated 30,000 people who live with dementia. The joint venture will enable research and development for new medications, ensure that current medications on the market are being prescribed correctly, and look into how new technologies and innovations will be able to improve patients quality of life.
