Health minister expresses importance of new ideas in the NHS
Health minister Lord Darzi has stated it is important to respond to patients’ rising expectations and ensure the NHS is pioneering in its ideas.
Staff are being encouraged to sign up to the Innovation Expo, which is due to take place between June 18th and 19th at the London ExCel.
Thousands of employees from the public body will be able to meet and find out how new ideas can benefit the. Companies such as 3M and Microsoft will also be present showcasing their latest devices.
Lord Darzi noted new ideas must be encouraged and supported, as well creating a culture of innovation.
“[It] is ? essential if the NHS is to meet the current economic challenges and continue to support this country’s knowledge industries to ensure that we benefit from the competitive edge which they provide,” he said.
This is why it would be beneficial for staff to attend the event, Lord Darzi concluded.
Earlier this month, applications were invited from health, social care and business sectors to become Health Innovation and Education Clusters.
Some ten million pounds will be invested into these groups to improve the knowledge and skills of NHS employees.
