Henry Schein donates dental equipment to Growing Smiles Foundation
Henry Schein has donated a range of dental products to the Growing Smiles Foundation in support of its recent mission to provide oral health treatment for children in Peru.
The company has provided $18,000 (13,670 pounds) in dental supplies and equipment, including gloves, restorative materials, dental handpieces and other instruments, to help address the needs of patients.
The Growing Smiles Foundation team consisted of two paediatric dentists, a periodontist, three paediatric dental residents, a dental hygienist, and 17 dental students from Temple University's Maurice H Kornberg School of Dentistry.
Participants treated approximately 220 patients, 190 of whom were children, with more than 140 cleanings and fluoride treatments provided, in addition to over 100 restorative treatments and more than 450 sealants.
Stanley Bergman, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, said: "It is wonderful to see the next generation of oral health professionals understand the impact their skills can have on the oral health, and by extension overall health, of children in need."
Since the programme's inception in 2013, Temple University students and faculty have treated more than 1,000 patients in Peru.
